Eye Color: Dark, dark brown, with a constant sort of light in them. Usually it just seems like they’re very bright, or shiny. When she wants to or when she uses her powers, her eyes go completely white and glow

Hair Color: In uniform she wears a dark brown wig. Naturally she has dirty blond hair, but she’s been bleaching and dying it different crazy colors ever since she became Illumina to help distance her two personas. In July 2010 it’s bright teal.

Hair Type: Her wig is shoulder length and wavy, and pulled up into a ponytail. Her real hair is a loosely curled asymmetrical cut, with the longer side reaching just above her shoulder and the short side reaching just under her ear.

Skin Color: Kind of pale.

Physical Description: Very pear shaped with a small chest and wide hips and thighs. She is not super muscular- she’s in shape and she can be active for a long stretch of time without getting exhausted. But her attention always goes to cardio and leg training, especially squats and lunges (fencing). She needs to jump to start flying, and it can be a little hop, but the higher the jump the better start she gets so strong leg muscles helps a lot.

Personality

General Personality: 

In general she's quieter and has a softer approach to socializing. She loves being around people, she just doesn't draw all the attention to herself. She likes making new friends and making people feel welcome. As a civilian, without her teammates around, she isn't as sociable. She doesn't want to risk anyone recognizing her alter ego, so no one gets close enough to even have the option. She doesn't look people in the eyes or speak up in class unnecessarily- if called on she answers without fuss, to make the attention go away quicker. With friends she has a quiet wit and charm; she's a very dependable friend and you can always go to her if you need to vent. She's also very protective, even when it doesn't make sense (ex: she's very protective of Robin, even though he is way more experienced and capable, it's just instinctive) and she will stick up for them. She doesn't yell when angry, she gets very cold and calm and is very cutting with her word choices- then she leaves the situation and cries from the stress of it. Stress is something she falls prey to, often, as is doubt. She struggles with controlling her fear and panic early on in the season, something that hinders the team at times- though she tries very hard to work past it.

Bad Traits: Fussy, Stubborn, Soft, completely dependent on her powers, Inexperienced

Quirks: She likes ice cold drinks so she sticks bottled stuff in the freezer for a quick chill- only she’ll forget she already had a drink there so she’ll end up with 5+ drinks as varying degrees of frozenness. She usually spaces out when she’s annoyed by something. She will do full on lunges (arm out like she has an epee) in the middle of a conversation. She will literally float off into the abyss when a situation is just; too much.  

Hopes: Before she met the team? She wanted to be someone great. She wanted to be well known and love. After meeting the team she achieved that, in a way. Now what she wants to do is keep them safe and happy and loved for as long as she is able. 

Fears: Nyctophobia, the fear of the dark: an absence of light will start to leach away at her powers. Atychiphobia, the fear of failure: when she fails as Illumina, people get hurt or die, of course she’s afraid to fail. Thanatophobia, the fear of death: she’s very afraid to die.

Likes: fencing, cherry blossoms, stargazing, telescopes, books, early 2000’s alternative music, skinny jeans with ripped knees, oatmeal raisin cookies, flying, bitter tea & coffee

Dislikes: complete silence, smog, uncertainty, being afraid, uncontrolled anger (in herself), sweet tea, cyclamen

Relationships 

Family: She loves her parents a lot. She was an only child, her parents were well off, and she was spoiled rotten. However, she hasn’t seen them longer than a month in 6 years, ever since she got her powers. So she doesn’t really know them- which is why she opted to stay at the Cave after she stopped being Dr Light’s protege.

Dr Light: She had an extremely strained relationship with her mentor, even before they were partnered together. Julia never really liked her, and is very glad to have split ways

Closest Friends: Honestly, the whole team but she’s especially close to M’gann, Dick, and Wally

Girlfriend(s)/Boyfriend(s): She only recently realized she was bi, so most of her life she dated boys. They never worked out, and after awhile she stopped dating. She always preferred to hang out with her girl friends, anyways. And then, she realized a few months after the formation of the team.

She fell for M’gann immediately but didn’t realize it. She was just her best friend who gave her butterflies for a long time. However, Artemis also made her knees weak. (honestly i haven’t decided on which ship to go with!)

Battle

Power(s): Photokinesis! control over all forms of light sources, without relying on equipment, and the ability to absorb all forms of illumination as energy

POWER/ABILITY 1: Project Energy

PROS: allows her to shoot destructive laser beams and other blasts of destructive energy, blind her opponents with blinding flashes of light, and create protective barriers

CONS: she needs to absorb light to fuel this power, if she’s in a dark room (or trapped in one) she will get weaker and weaker, however, she can store some energy in case of these situations. She also has an intense fear of the dark.

POWER/ABILITY 2: Flight

PROS: she’s able to fly incredibly fast, which also gives her the advantage of height and mobility.

CONS: she can fly incredibly fast, but without invulnerability she’s able to get windburn so she has to be careful.

POWER/ABILITY 3: Specializes in Fencing

PROS: it’s improved her coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, strength, cardiovascular endurance, and also her focus, hand-eye coordination, and problem solving skills.

CONS: it’s not the best fighting style outside of duels but it keeps her in shape

Weapon(s):  an epee but she doesn’t usually use it to fight. Usually uses hand blasts

Style: she is fast and evasive, using her light to stun and disorient foes so her attack based teammates can take them out.

Strengths: she’s a good distractor and also good for jumping in when a teammate is overwhelmed

Weaknesses: complete, pitch darkness makes her lose her mind, she’d be nearly useless in an environment like that.

Background:

She was born in Central California, May 16th, 1995 to Maria and Liam Meyers. They were a well-to-do family and were able to provide her with a lot in life. She had a really good education and was involved in activities such as fencing at a young age. In school she was really into space and was shaping up to be a real astronomy wiz.

When she was nine her metagene kicked in when she sneezed in glass and a beam flew from her hand and exploded against a wall. Her parents immediately took her out of school and began searching for a solution. One hero came up who had a similar set of powers to hers- Dr Light, Kimiyo Hoshi- a brilliant scientist who specialized in astronomy, and in that work was exposed to radiation that gave her her powers. Dr Light was residing in Japan, and so that was where Julia went. 

Dr Light wasn’t at all happy to have to take her in, but the League’s gentle persuasion, the Melvin’s money, and Julia’s knack for stars all persuaded her. She taught Julia how to control her powers. When Universe threatening forces brought Dr Light into the crime fighting game again, Julia went too. At this point, she’d heard all about sidekicks popping up in America online, and she wanted to be like them. She didn’t really know how to fight, but she could just her powers and that’d be enough, right? Wrong. 

Julia soon realized she needed more experience than the exercises Dr Light had her run through. With rapidly developing abilities, the desire to test the expanding limits grew so much she couldn’t resist! She snagged an old, thrashed costume, modified it, and took to the streets. A year passed, Dr. Light found out, was furious, and hauled her back to America. To the Hall of Justice. 

And there she was surprised to find the other sidekicks there, the people she’d idolized for years, the people she only dreamed of being like. It was the coolest thing ever- soured only a little by Dr Light dumping her like a sack of potatoes. Mentorless with the span of the entire country separating her from her home, she was relieved when the other League members took her in with the rest of the sidekicks. 

And when the sidekicks rebelled, Julia went too. Because now she could finally be like them.
